    21v steering cable

Anyone know the number for the new extreme cable for a 2000 21v? I heard they are much better than the old style. I have the original Morse helm. Also, best place to buy. After 10 years, snap. Had to steer back to the marina with a surf board!!

Wow, steering with a surf board! That must of been a real PIA.

Do some research on here for instruction on replacing the cable, there are some great threads under the "Maintenance" and "How to" sections. It can get a little tricky getting the new cable ran but it's not to bad of a job overall.

          Good luck

Yeah, after dark, idle speed, steering in the bow with a surf board. Glad it is a small lake and they know it very well. Always a new adventure. My 23 yo son had the boat at his place in college. Thing is, we had the conversation the weekend before that replacing the cable would be one of our winter projects as it was starting to get a little stiff. Just glad to get 10 years out of it. Fortunately, he can turn a wrench with the best of them so I don't have to do the repair (just pay for the part). Thanks for the help.

This is all that was on my receipt (see below), missing some of the numbers but I think it was SSC 13519

"DMP Telflex 1-SSC1... 19" Teleflex Extreme Steering Cable"

Search the site and you can find a few threads with the part number break down.
