grease/lube steer cable and rudder box

    How is this done?

    #2
Rudder box: Grease gun loaded with a tube of marine grease.

Steering cable: I used WD-40 a couple times a year on the exposed portion in the bilge. With the steering all the way to the std, I think, coat the rod and then turn the wheel back the other way, then repeat. Someone on here talked about using a very heavy gauge syringe to pump antifreeze (it's both a lube and rust preventative) down the sheath and then working the cable back and forth. He swore it freed up a stiff cable.

ok, so there is a zert fitting on the rudder box, easy enough.
I have a cable luber I use on motorcyle throttle cables, maybe it will fit the steering cable.

      Thanks
