2006 22Ve steering cable

I am one of the poor saps that has to change out his steering cable. Anyone know the part number from Teleflex that I need? I appologize if there is a thread here somewhere that has already answered this recently but I am new to tigeowners.com.

If no one pops up with correct part#, then you should be able to find the number on the outer casing of your current cable, but I have a feeling it has been superseded, so you my need to call and have it crossed to the new one.

Teleflex

Standard cable is SSC134xx

Upgrade Xtreme cable is SSC154xx

The xx is for the length you need. Mine originally had a 17 footer, however, I called Lee to make sure and he recommended the 18 footer that they are currently installing. I highly recommend the upgraded cable, I just installed it on my boat and love it.

I had originally purchased the standard cable before calling Teleflex and finding out about Xtreme cable. So I had both cables in hand to check them out. While the cables still coiled up in their boxes I was unable to move the steering arm of the standard cable. However, on the Xtreme cable the steering arm moved freely. They have made the upgraded cable to handle tighter bends and resist corrosion.

I the Xtreme cable was only about $20.00 more than the stock one. IMO well worth it.

If you have any other questions just ask. Most places may not even be aware of the Xtreme cable. So if you have a cable where the part number starts with SSC134xx just order the SSC154xx.

Here is what the packaging looks like. I ordered it from West Marine and they had it drop shipped from Teleflex. It took about 5 business days to get to me in SoCal.
