    velvet drive

I did a search but could not find the answer to this, I am looking for the approximate amount of tranny fluid to put back in once I remove the old tranny fluid, I am just curious so I know how many quarts to buy at the store.

Also, a buddy of mine suggests I run the gas tank dry or close to it and fill with 91 grade gasoline, run for a 15 minutes or so and then I do not need to add Stabil for the winter? I have never had trouble with Stabil, but he says it does not protect the parts from degrading, just protects the gas from getting old...with 91 you are protected. Any thoughts?

You should put Stabil in... bottom line. Top it off and then run it for 10-15 min or so so the stabil gets through the fuel lines, etc.

I have never heard of 91 octane protecting against anything. In order to protect your engine while its not in use you need to fog your cylinders.

not sure about 91-it has ethanol too which is the bugger. It generally had additives for cleaner burn but may not be worth the risk or the cost at 30-40 cents per gal. We had great results w Stabil for ethanol (blue color) and doubled up. Gas w ethanol can separate after 2-4 mos then a mess. Not worth the hassle to go without Stabil. jb

I usually go find a gas station with Non-Oxygenated 92 Octane to store long term. The non-oxygenated has a long enough shelf life to last a winter unlike regular pump gas which goes bad in about a month. I always add Stabil too.
The luck is gone, the brain is shot, but the liquor we still got.
