    Prop stuck

As said previously, on labor date a floated over a submerged tree, engine off going 5 mph, it slightly bent one of the props tips, take it to the local marina, they have a prop puller, that was way to big and they try to remove it, the end up causing more harm than good so after about 15 minutes of increasing nicks and dings in the prop they give up as well as I. I ordered the ACME c clamp prop puller, followed the instructions to a tee and still the prop is stuck. I tried everything, from real tight, to real lose, to hitting it to get the most harmonic, crawling under and using my legs to push on the prop, to rotating the puller and repeating every combo for over an hour.

My next step is to get some penetrating oil, if that fails, then thinking of heating it up with a butane torch.

    Am I missing something here.

This is the second prop that I have bent, the first one much worse, but at a very slow speed, the same marina, used the same oversized puller, and after using a break bar finally got it off. I framed houses so I can swing a hammer, but I am running out of options.

Any thoughts of taking an impact wrench to the prop puller nut and going for gusto.
This has delayed me the last two weeks, only 1-2 more of the season left.
The worst day of boating is still the better than the best day of work......, unless you bend your prop.

maybe I should have changed my signature to " the worst day of boating is better than the best day of work, unless you win megaball lottery". I think having the original one set me up for failure.

        Try a 2x4 and sledge.

It's going to take some force to get that off for sure. Just make sure that your face or any body part isn't close to the prop since that thing is going to "pop harder" off that shaft.

Tried the penetrating oil, then used a pneumatic air hammer and beat the back of the c clamp enough to flatten out the hammers die punch. On the bright side the c clamp took a beating and held up well. Tried it with both the c clamp on tight and loose. My hands are numb now, which is not good given my profession.

Anyway. I did not directly hit the collar of the prop, barely touched it with the air hammer and the metal is so soft that it made a dent.

If I could get under it more, the sledge would be my next option, plus or minus a little heating. But since it is underwarranty, I think in order to save a expensive accident, I am going to take it to another Tige certified marina, the first one gave up, the next one is a lot bigger, but further away.

heat...All you have to do is apply a moderate amount of pressure with the c-clamp and use your butane torch and heat up the sides of the prop. If you leave your nut just barely threaded on the prop will pop into this saving some busted knuckles or a shot to the dome.

using a dead blow hammer (mallet) will net better results than a metal hammer. as all the force tends to unleash at the point of impact. with metal hammers the force bounces back through the hammer head. so try and use a 2x4 and metal hammer if thats what you have. and alternate sides, you dont want it to pitch sideways at all.

x2 a lil cheap propane torch works wonders. you dont even gotta heat it up much
