Bought 2001 23v last week and...

I just purchased a 01 23v with a scorp. motor and 338 hrs. I demoed the boat and the impellar pump locked up and tore the belt off. The dealership replaced it and we took it out yesterday for a couple of hours and it ran great. I took the air filter off and cleaned a pound of junk out of it and the throttle body & intake. I have plenty of car experiance but this is my first boat. What should I do and look for as far as maint. and wearing parts. Any and all advice would be nice thanks...

    Congrats, welcome to the site!

Without knowing the service history, I would service all the fluids (oil, trans, V-drive) and the filters. Cap, rotor, wires, plugs. Lube the rudder box and cable.

Impeller lock up was lucky. Most of the time they just disintegrate and often get pushed into the cooling system. Replace them every year.
Change the oil, change the drive fluid, repack the prop... Beyond that, make sure you set it up for storage before it gets cold.

check the dist. cap and rotor. the black scorp. motors I service seem to have a problem corroding the terminals in the dist. cap. They do seem to go through the impellers as well so I would also make this a yearly thing 4 U. good luck with it and post some pics.

          Thanks

Thanks for the help I will be doing the work myself and I'm currently reading the how to's. I also would like to get more horsepower but it's not vital. Do you have any suggestions?
