Iddeling Low and Running Hot!

I was out today and after about four hours of wakeboarding (and the boat running awesome) we went in to a marina for lunch. As I was iddeling back it started iddeling low, almost dying. It finally died and wouldn't crank back up. It was turning over fine, but just wouldn't fire. I had the fuel pump replaced about a month ago. After I let it sit for awhile, it cranked back up, but didn't sound right and wouldn't rev while in neutral. Eventually it wouldn't start again and I had to leave it at the marina (luckily it is my local Tigé dealer!)

Any thoughts on the issue?

When is it running hot? You posted that in your subject but not in your description. Was the boat dieseling?

My first guess, and hopefully the right one, would be bad gas Which caused the rough idle. It also caused a knock which the knock sensor caught and put the boat in limp mode... this would explain the not revving in idle. But it wouldn't explain the boat running hot... We need more info on this problem.

Worst case scenario, if it's running hot like you say.... it almost sounds like your impeller went out. You then overheated the motor and possibly cracked the heads or exhaust manifolds causing a hydrolock. This would be why it wouldn't start back up. Also why when it did, it wouldn't rev. up b/c the motor was in limp mode due to the overheating. I hope for you, this isn't the case.

I agree with Tanner, it sounds like the symptoms of your impeller going out. I would check the impeller, replace if ruined and see if engine will turn over.

Heard back today from the Tigé dealer, you guys were right. Its the impeller. Running great. Thanks for the help/

So no cracked heads or exhaust manifolds due to the heat???? B/C you don't want that sucker to hydrolock! Of course, if it hasn't showed up by now and you ran the boat through it's paces, your prob. fine.

I did this very thing once in an old glastron I used to have. When I overheated it, I Cracked the heads.... water got in the cylinders, but didn't bend any rods or anything. Got them repaired. I then got the motor put back together and running.... and the motor died again. So I took the exhaust manifolds in to be pressure tested. They were leaking pretty bad. Luckily I never bent any rods or anything when it hydrolocked. Shortly after that, my damn bendix broke on the starter... After that nightmare, I moved into a Tige.
