    cushion back fasteners (2004 22IR)

I just noticed today, after a bow seat back cushion screw stripped out, that the cushions are fastened by a wood screw through the tuck in the cushion. The vinyl had a cut the size of the screw head. At first I thought the screw head had cut the vinyl because it was loose. I looked at others and all that I could find are the same. Looks like they just screwed though the vinyl at the tuck into the boat. I'm very disapointed that the vinyl is not reinforced at the connection points and Tige didn't spend an extra few cents for a higher quality fastener, versus a sharp headed wood screw. I'm sure these small tears, while hidden in the tuck now, will eventually be problem. Anyone else noticed or had a problem?

Personally it doesn't bother me. I've had to remove cushions to do speaker wiring and tower installing and I think that the design is a good idea. It only took me a few minutes to locate the small holes in the tuck in the vinyl, stick a screwdriver in, and remove the screws. The only other way I could think of attaching the cushions would be by a permanent bolt that has a nut in the back. That just plain wouldn't work in many areas of the boat because you wouldn't be able to get to the back.

I gotta be honest though, it did surprise me to find how simply mounted they are, though they have not created any problems in my '00 21v.

If you've got another idea, let me know, and maybe let Tige know... maybe they'll take it into consideration.

Just seems pretty rough to drill metal screw through the vinyl without any reinforcement or protection. The storage door strap screws are mounted through a plastic or metal ring which creates a seat for the screw and eliminates any problems with the sharp screw head edges.
