Grease and oil stains on gell coat

I just bought my 99 21v 2 months ago. the motor had some serious rebuilding done after previous owner ignored the winterization process year after year. I know the mechanic, and he is a pretty experienced race engine builder. Problem is that he dosnt understand that you dont want your gell coat around the motor compartment stained with grease. I have tried several different products from windex to crud cutter but the stains wont go away. Any one have any ideas.
