Didn't get to go to lake today so I thought id start working on my teak swim deck. I started by sanding it with 100 and again with 220 grit. I blew it off with the air hose than whiped it down and got started with the teak oil. I had a clean shirt and poured the oil on every slay of the platform and rubbed it in with the shirt. I let each coat dry for 2 hours in the 100 degree heat. Here's some pics!

1) How many coats?

Haha yea there was probably I cold budlight on the swim pad though! lol. I did 3 coats and should have let them dry for a day each. The oil was regular teak oil from a marine shop, I didn't get the cleaning kit because I wanted to sand it. I can't remember the brand sorry

The teak deck comes off quite easily, so getting to the underside should be simple. I always condition both sides, as it will help the teak last longer. You do NOT want to put a clear coat on it, as it will make the deck extremely slipery when wet.

I did the same job, but with an air file (long directional air sander. Danged teak is so hard. Mine came out amazing. I also used better beer.
