    Trans/Vdrive light came on

Well I took her out today for the first time. Everything was going pretty good until my vdrive light came on. So do you guys have any idea what would cause it to come on? I know it's on when your at idel or I think below 1000 rpm. Any input would be great.

    Thanks

When that happened to me, my V-Drive fluid was low.

Thanks I checked it and it is real close to the add mark sitting on the drive way. Dog when yours was low where was is on the dip stick. Also I hope this is not a dumb question but sitting on the drive where do you put a level to find its level riding point.

      Thanks again for the help

I have an even more stupid question.
Where is the dipstick on the 07 20V? Do you have to open up the access cover under the rear bench seat cushion?

        Like I said dumb/stupid queston.

I think your 07 has the all-in-one trans/V-drive asm. Cant remember for sure, but I believe it only has one dipstick. Is it all dark gray in color, as opposed to the gray trans and blue v-drive used in years past? Look on the starboard side of the unit, back from the engine.

I have the gray trans and the blue v-drive. I found the dip stick on trans. It was really tight and initially appeared to be threaded in but after I got it out it was just a tight seal.

I found the stick on the Walter Vdrive but it is too long to get out of vdrive to read. When you try getting out of vdrive the dip stick is so long it runs into the seats bottom fiberglass.

I was expecting oil but the fluid is white like lithium grease would be. Is this correct. with the Blue Vdrive does it have it's own dip stick?
The fluid in the trans is supposed to be Dexron Trans fluid. The dipstick for the V-drive os on the port side of the v-drive, on the front side of the cooler (toward the transom, not bow). If you do a search for my trans and v-drive service thread, you will find pics of your exact setup. V-drive take 30W non-detergent motor oil.

                Update.
I changed my fluid and cleaned my screen filter. That didn't fix my light issue but I do have fresh fluid in the V drive. So I took off my pressure switch, I notice I was not getting any voltage across the post. I ordered a new switch from Walters. $29.00. My issue is now fixed. Side note Walters is the only place you can find a preset 2 psi pressure switch that I could find. I could find a lot of switches that can do a range.

Good find. Now that you mention it, that's exactly the course of action my dealer took when I had the issue. My sensor was fine tho...it just needed the fluid changed out. Normally, they just top off V-Drive/Tranny fluids on an annual service.

Post some pics next time you get the chance for the rest of us
