    Fuel filter replacement problem

I just replaced my fuel filter on my 2001 21V MAG MPI 315HP for the first time in probably 3 - 4 years. Didn't have any problem, but figured better safe than sorry. Now the boat won't start
It cranks. When you turn the key, the fuel pump runs for about 3 - 5 seconds, then stops. I tried the bleeder valve and at first there seemed to be fuel/air, then nothing. Held the bleeder valve open and cranked engine - nothing. Held bleeder valve open and turned key to on - again fuel pump ran 3-5 seconds, shut off, but no fuel came out. Is my fuel pump bad? What else can I check?
    Thanks!

Did you fill the new filter with fuel before installing?
If it was empty it could take numerous attempts (10 or so) at starting to get the air out of the system.
With older carb systems the low pressure fuel pumps could easily pull fuel thru an empty filter.
With EFI systems the high pressure pumps don't work as well at priming an empty filter.

      Thanks

Thanks for the reply, it turned out that the anti-siphon had gotten plugged with some red plastic material. Now getting fuel, but no spark - I have to get my hands on a timing light to try to figure this problem out.
