    Cavitation

would these dings make the boat cavitate when turning or at slow speeds. I noticed that I had some vibrations and cavitation this wkend.

If so, Is this something that can be fixed or will I need a new prop?

1st, I think you may have the wrong prop, not normal to see a 4 blade on a DD.

2nd, I think the rudder looks bent.

You should be able to fix it.

As for 4-blade vs. 3-blade, my V-Drive came with a 3-blade. Then I moved up to the OJ 4-blade you have and now back to an ACME 3-blade.

I would have your shaft alignment checked the next time you have it in the shop.

Dog, do you think the 3 blade is better then the 4 blade. What did you gain?

Read the thread I started on the subject. It's got some pictures of the OJ and Acme side-by-side.

Wow those blades are huge, so I will assume that is the prop you use to surf with. How does it perform wakeboarding?? Sorry for the high jacking of post.

With the rudder straight ahead, just eye the running gear from the rudder to the tracking fins, and then go up front, and look back from the fins to the rudder.

I love the prop. It's great for everything. The boat's a lot more responsive, especially under heavy load. It's always a disappointment when the OJ gets put on. You wouldn't believe the difference.

From the factory? "Model Specs" list a 13x13 for all the boats that year. I was thinking Tige was using 3-blades on the DD's back then, but dont know this to be fact by any means.

Im not sure, i would assume so

Model specs also list everything before 2003 a 13x13 and everything after a 13x12, not reliable?

That's what I was wondering. 3-blades just seemed to be the norm a number of years back. Since i'm not a "planker" I really dont know when a transition was made from 3 to 4 blade props.

There's no 4-blade equivalent to the ACME 525. Not for surface area and pitch. My dealer's been putting them on V-Drives, too.

It's a very different prop from anything I've seen, even the ACME 4 blades.
