    Using Ethanol E10 in 2006 24Ve

Since Missouri switched over to mandated E10 gas...I was just wondering if any one else at the Lake of the Ozarks...knows if the Marinas on the Lake also sell E10 fuel....Also...does anyone know what the fuel tank in the Tige is made out of....Has anyone had any issues using E10 in any of their Tiges

    Thanks

My tank is aluminum. My engine (Merc 315) would have issues with E10 because the fuel pressure regulator has a diaphragm in it that E10 would deteriorate over time.

E10 may contain up to 10% ethanol. May not be 10% ethanol. You have nothing to worry about. Ethanol is a very good cleaner and solvent yes, but only in concentrated forms. The producer is required to add corrosion inhibitors so it will not destroy pipelines, tanks and most importantly you vehicle. It will not harm your boat.

There used to be bad batches of fuel produced but this is in the past now that ethanol is regulated. The producers need to produce good quality because they are obligated to buy any vehicle which there fuel harms. You can imagine how pricey that it gets.

I believe that all of our gas in the NE is E10 and has been for quite awhile.

Just to put it in perspective, a 100 MM Gallon Ethanol producer needs to spend around 50,000 bucks for fuel additive a year. That 50 grand protects the millions of vehicles that fuel touches. So it is much cheaper to prevent the problem then pay to fix it later.

Does anyone know if TIGE or MP has changed their written statement regarding warranty when we use fuels with alcohol?

As long as you dont use e85 you will be fine. They can not change there warranties because e10 is mandatory by the government. 10% ethanol will not harm your engine. E85 on the other hand will. Ethanol requires more oxygen to burn then gasoline. There for if you engine is not set up for it you will run lean as the motor can not compensate for it. This is what will damage your engine.
