I need to know what kind of engine I have

I am trying to find parts for my boat its a 96' tige and it has a mercruiser 350. what I want to do is find similar part from your regular parts store but I dont know where the engine comes from(ex. 02 tige motor is the same as 96 chevy 1500). If anyone knows what engine parts fit my boat please let me know, There is a lot of thing I need for this engine.

Being able to say it is a specific vehicle, like in your example really is not going to work...especially since you have a mercruiser, they use a lot of proprietary parts that you can only replace with mercruiser. Given that it is a Chevy Small Block-350 cubic inches is a start. There are some fairly good online parts places for merc, but being able to go to an autoparts store is going to be difficult for major things like belts, pulleys, carb, impeller and housing. Oil filter, sparkplugs, gaskets...you should be able to get from a parts store if you have the old one to get a number off of. Good luck and hopefully you will find parts easily enough.

Try Mercruiser's site. Use the "My Engine" link in the upper right of the page and enter the engine serial #. Should be good to go. Good Luck.

X3 I use that link, it allows me to get most parts I need from Car Quest. If I can't get them there then I head to Andrew (spbfan) he can get you parts...
