I have done some work on this engine but I can't seem to get it right. In it is a mercruiser 350 mpi. After running great at the end of last summer we have still to go out and have a good time in it this summer. The engine idles fine but once you put it in gear it starts to bog down even to the point of turning off after going faster than 10 mph. A full tune up has been performed on this engine I think its the fuel pump but I am scared to drop more money into it. please if anyone has had any experience with this kind of engines I need your help.

Did the ploblem start before or after the tune up? What was done during the "full tune up"?Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

It was doing the exact same thing, we send it into the shop because there was water in the oil pan, so we firgured we needed a new engine but compression test came out ok so we took it back out and no more water in the oil pan and still the same problem.the boat will actually run fine if its just in idle but under load it just doesnt respond. yesterday it actually stoped running completely and now there is no power to anything.

Not sure what you mean by "no power to anything," but did you replace the fuel filter when doing the tune-up? Did you put any Stabil in the fuel last year when winterizing? Where did the shop think the water in the oil came from, condensation perhaps? If so, maybe you have water from condensation in the fuel as well. Has more water gotten into the oil?

I have seen this problem in my uncles boat before, he did fill the tank or put any Stabil in the fuel when he winterized it, got condesation in the tank. Boat ran fine until you went to take off then it would just bog down. I think he ended up draining the tank, and replaced the fuel filter twice just to make sure all water was out of lines. How can I be racist when all of my assault rifles are black?

If there's no power to anything, that sounds more like an electrical problem. How's your battery? Also, is it possible your alternator is no longer charging?
Aside from the fuel filter, have you changed out your impeller recently?Cursed by a fortune cookie: "Your principles mean more to you than any money or success."

Also, check your fuel pressure - 26 psi @ ignition ON.
Make sure your batteries are around 12.5v with nothing on and up to approx 13.6v with engine running and batteries being charged.

Ok guys just ran the boat. I purge the fuel line it was going up to 40psi very slowly after purge it went up quickly and stayed there. Boat ran good up to 35 mph and started back firing, I figure now we have a timing issue but I saw the fuel that was sent to a container after the purge and it is lime green with a water deposit at the bottom, it has a weird odor to it, if you know of an easy way to clean the tank please let me know and also what parts to change when I do this?

Replace the fuel filter/water separator. Then bleed the air and old gas out of the fuel rail at the schrader valve until you get fresh gas.
Hook up your fake-a-lake and run the engine. Hopefully your injectors are not gummed up. I'd then replace the fuel filter again, and rebleed the fuel rail.
Of course, keep all sparks away from this project and air out the bilge with a fan before starting the engine.

new problem
ok so I cleaned out the tanks, the line and ran new fuel through it. Now the engine does not go faster than 25 and its really slow. engine idles fine and it doesnt seem like I have any problems except for the lack of power. does anyone have any idea what could be wrong motor is 350 mpi boat is 02' tige. the rotor and cap were replaced just recently it does have a knock sometimes but its not consistent. could it be fouled plugs?
