Starboard side of the engine, right near the front in a plastic housing. The housing pops right off. Believe me, if I can change it anyone can.

        illiniboarder88,

It is easy to do. Here is the Napa & Merc. p/n's if you are interested. I change mine after I run out my 1st tank of the year.

        NAPA: 3225 (18-7844) (MERC: 35-60494-1)

On the newer marine power fuel injected engines we find you can go aprox, 300hrs or about 3 years , they are a large filter and unless you get a bad tank of gas you shouldnt see a problem.

The fuel filter/water separator that comes on our boats is a dual function unit. The filter element is for filtering the fuel. The shape or configuration of the canister provides a water separating action. The fuel enters the bottom of the canister and exits the top. Since fuel floats any water will settle to the bottom of the canister until it fills with water, then water gets out. If the filter/separator is full of water it can be dumped out and reused. I've gotten back to camp twice that way. The filter should last a long time. There are filters available that have see thru bowls and drain cocks on the bottom of the bowl so any water can be drained out.

On my 2004 24v with Vortec 6.0L, where is my fuel filter and separator? I do not have a manual to check. Instead of spending hundreds on seafoam, I would like to check or change out if needed.
