    Won't Start

    I have a 2000 21' V Fox Edition
It has the Mercruiser 350 with Fuel Injection.

The boat turns over but will not start.
There is no spark from the coil or any of the plugs.

The coil is getting 12v power.
I replaced the coil and still no spark from the coil or the plugs.

I don't know much about electronic ignitions but capable of testing everything except diagnostics on the computer.

There was a little moisture under the distributor cap. I cleaned all of the contacts on the cap to no avail.

    Any ideas?

Check the control module inside of the distributor cap.

      WON'T START

      Kris,
When my battery gets weak from the stereo my engine does the same thing. It will turn over just fine, but no fire. I can jump it from the my little jumper box and it fires right up. The ignition system has to have that extra juice the starter is using when the battery is weak.

In your distributor there is a pick up module under the rotor, it should have 2 wires exiting the side of the housing. These wires are both white, 1 with a red tracer the other with a green tracer. That "trigger" is most likley the problem. Mercruiser had a hell of a time with those failing a few years ago. The trigger/ ignition sensor will cost about $50 you will also have to replace the rotor for Merc loc-tites it on to the shaft. It will be destroyed during removal.

As for the low battery no start condition, those mefi 3 and 4 ecm's require at least 9 volts to wake up. With out that your just pumping air.
