    Prop pitch

I just got off the phone with ACME propellers. I'm looking to replace my 3-blade prop with a 4-blade. I told the ACME guy that I had a 2003 22v and he recommended 13x12.5 4 blade. Does a 12.5 pitch sound right for a 22v? 12.5 sounds a little low, I'm worried if I put a 12.5 pitch prop the engine will overspeed.

Anyone have any info on this?

    Thanks!

What prop do you have now, all of the 22v's come with a 4 blade standard. I would recomend the Acme 537.

I just thougt about something...I don't have the syncrotech transmission. Would that explain the lower pitch requirement?

Yes, thank makes a big difference. The 13x12.5 would be the right prop for your application.

I replaced the 3 blade with a 4 blade. The 3 blade was the ACME 515 (13x12). The 4 blade is the ACME 231 (13x12.5).

The 4 blade is much smoother than the 3 blade ever was. But the 3 blade has a significant better hole shot. Once up though, the perfect pass seems to be able to hold speed better with the 4 blade. Also, the shape of the wake is a little better with the 4 blade.

Overall, I like the 3 blade more than the 4 blade.

everything you just said makes me wonder why you like the 3 blade better

Overall, I like the 3 blade better because of the significantly better hole shot.
