I would buy some MDF and paint it with rhino. Swap the hardware over and install it.

It's Medium Density Fiberboard, it's a very heavy type of manufactured wood most commonly used for building speakerboxes and put-together furniture (not the particle board stuff though). They sell it at Lowes and Home Depot.

make sure it is well sealed coz that stuff gets really mushy when wet

I would make it out of starboard. last foreveryou could carpet it or leave it plain. i wish tige would bring it back i really like it on my 03. it helps keep water from dripping on eng./alt and stuff like that. here is a pic of mine if you guys dont know what we are talking about.

What the heck is that!!! Combined with my new "gutter" to keep saltwater off my alternator everything would look great in my engine compartment. I agree with KKO, starboard would be best, but it is expensive so I guess it might be application dependent.

Your other cheap option is pressure treated pine, but the pressure treated will warp, even after sealing.

I would say it would be the plastic boards commonly used, but if it warped, I would have to go with a resined wood of some sort. I have no idea.

yeah mine is made of the grey plastic board stuff and is holding up quite well. not sure what the older ones were. wood just seems to be a bad idea to me you could do it in starboard for under a 100 id bet. maybe 50 half a sheet would do it.
