In a boat, fuel effeciency (just like speed), is more about hull design than horsepower or weight. IMHO, Tige has done an outstanding job balancing wake performance with fuel efficiency.

So, it's all about hull design, boys, all about hull design.

you also have to think about how versatile the tige is; at the moment your son wants to tube, but 6 months down the line he might find he wants to try skiing or wakeboarding, and the tige can handle all of that. as for fuel efficiency, we go through about 3 gal per hour (we dont use ballast)

I started this thread and for what its worth I ordered the Z1.

Looking again at Malibu I have to agree with whoever posted that it is a 12 year old boat - maybe even older. On the new V-Ride look at where they put the cup-holders in the bow ('07 did not even have them). The Z1 is closer in class to the Wakesetter in my opinion - and like $10K less when optioned out.

Congrats, I don't think you will be disappointed in the Tige Z1.
