Sometimes, I just want to cry.....

    Ok guys and gals.

If you have been following my stories, I'm sure you know my problems. Well, I finally got my steering cable fixed. and wow, it's so different using my boat now, I'm over steering like crazy. Now the problem is that I guess they pullled the gas tank out to fix my steering cable, and well now my main speedo doesn't work above 10 miles an hour and the depth finder doesn't work either. I really don't want to take it up to them again. Anyone have any ideas on what to look for? I was gonna just look for loose wires or something. Any info would be great. Thanks guys .

I've been following your threads some, but I don't remember which model you have. Do you have the analog speedo or a Faria unit?

Faria with the digital depth finder built in. I was thinking they might have bumped a wire or something since they pulled the gas tank. Any ideas on what to look for? I'm going to go look tomorrow. or technically today.

Very possible. I guess you've already checked the transducer/paddlewheel on the transom? I had a simular problem one time with my speedo. Turns out I had some fishing line caught up in the paddlewheel which wasn't allowing it to spin freely.

I would check you're wires at both ends (gauge and transducer) and also follow the wire as best you can to make sure they didn't pinch or crush it reinstalling the fuel tank.

that's eactly what I was going to do. I checked the paddle wheel in the water, and it seemed ok, I'll check it again on land and see then follow the wires, and Hope it's nothing I can't figure out.

Turns out the part that connects to the hull, was a bit loose, so the whole item had turned a bit sideways, I guess enough so that it couldn't get a reading. Works great now
