    21i RE Loose throttle lever

Has anyone experienced a looseness at the lever on similar boat ('00 year ) ? There is no crisp detent at neutral. I'm new to the forums and tige' after owning three Correct Crafts. Awesome boat the 21i ! Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Those are fairly mechanical. Is it still moving your linkages correctly? If I'm not mistaken, the throttle lock is controlled by an indent, so interior examination might be in order.

Thanks for the reply, I will pull apart as soon as it's not blowing snow at the dock! I also have the TAPS indicator that is inop. Loose connections etc. Once again thanks for the response, Bolt

Check where the shift lever on the trans. hooks to the cable i have found in the past that the detent ball and spring behind the lever gets rusted in and doesnt press against the lever. That causes it to feel loose.

Post a pic of what throttle you have. I recently contacted the manufacturer (teleflex),and they sent me a copy of the manual. I have it electronically if you'd like it. Apparently, somewhere during the 2000 year Tige switched to a different throttle. Thus, you and I might have different ones.

Thanks for the heads up on linkage angle, I was too busy enjoying the boat last summer to look into " throttle play " until the off season. I appreciate the help. I traded out of a 1600 hour old school closed bow so a little annoyance was not a big deal..I had to carry quite an array of tools for a full day on the lake with that boat. Bolt

I also have the same boat as you and am experiencing the same problems. I pulled it apart and where the set screw is supposed to set, the indent is so big it has nothing to grab before it is bottomed out. Ticks me off because my taps usually only works when in neutral, and I believe these problems are related. Let me know if you find a solution or a way to order a new throttle handle.

Did anyone ever get a solution to this problem? I have the same issue, 2001 21i, the ball on the throttle where the taps switch is located gets very loose. I have tried tightening the allen set screw but it will loosen up quickly.

If you can back the allen out, add a drop of blue Loc-Tite and reinstall.
