Interesting info re "how to read" your serial number.
Most major boat manufacturers change their boat molds in July/August for the NEXT model year.
Let's use the example that the last 4 characters are "J899".
The LAST 2 digits of your serial number are the "Model Year" of your boat. In this example "99" = 1999.
The 3rd last digit is the year your hull actually came out of the mold. In this case "8" = 1998.
The 4th last character is the MONTH that your hull came out of the mold. In this case "J" is the 10th letter of the alphabet, so it came out of the mold in OCTOBER.
So, "J899" is a 1999 model boat, manufactured in Oct 1998.
New example: "E898" is a 1998 model boat, built in May 1998.

When you need to give your boat number to the dealership please use the complete hull number on the back. "example TIXA1999B797" TIX=built in texas
A= the model of the boat
1999= number produced
B=month built
7= year built
97= model year
Hope this explains the complete serial number. This is how we at the factory log everything.

Andrew, great additional info re the serial number.
Re the "number built": In your example, ("1999") is that the sequencial number built of that model in that year at that locatoion..... the sequential number built of that model since the model was introduced alllocations, the sequential number of all models, or............ you get the idea.
Thanks.

Thanks Andrew.
Further clarification. Is that sequential number of ALL models, ALL years, ALL locations?
Or, is it sequential number of all models FOR THAT YEAR ONLY?
Sorry to continue to pester. This is interesting stuff. I've been around boats for several decades, and now you're explaining stuff I've wondered about for years. Thanks.
