I just bought a new 2007 21i with the 340 hp vortec engine. I took it out for the first time last weekend and loved it, but had 1 problem. About 5 or 6 times that day the engine would start cutting out when accelerating. It could best be described as sputtering and popping (like backfiring) and had no power. I tried giving more throttle and I tried giving less throttle and neither worked. I would have to put it in neutral and start over. It had about 3/4 of a tank of fresh fuel. Anyone have this happen to them? I'm hoping its an easy fix because the dealership I bought it from is nowhere close and they don't really know what is going on. Any help would be much appreciated!

If so you might want to call them at 1-985-386-2081.
I had a small problem with my 04; it turned out to be the ECM. (The computer that controls the engine) Also I have heard of some problems being caused because of a bad / loose ground connection.
(Paint under the terminal can reduce the connectivity of the connection)
Not sure where you are located, but I do know that Tige Water Sports has a great service department.

We had that exact same problem with our 2007 Marine Power 340 and a visit to the Tige' dealer fixed it.
They know about it, and if your dealer doesn't they should call Tige' in Texas.
If they get a Texas Story, then perhaps they should call another Tige' dealer or Marine Power.
It's very scary, very un-nerving when launching your boat on flowing river water, and suddenly your power quits and you're headed for the rocks, or about to slam into other boats.
The MP engine is peppy, but the Mercurys were more dependable, quieter and ran smoother IMHO.
Hope Tige' eventually goes back to Mercury and Velvet drive and they can resolved their issues.
At least by the time we buy again.
But all the builders have dropped Merc for lack of Factory support.

You know I had that similar problem and the service dude at the dealer told me it was a loose ground on the battery.( I take it the negative cable)but just the other day I took it out for a test run and it did something else...when I was being pulled by my wife (wakeboarding) it ran for about 10 secs then when it reached full speed at about 23 MPH, the speed and RPM's dropped all the way down to zero. But the engine was still running and like you said pklakeguy, I would try to putting it in neutral and start all over again to ride but it wouldnt go forward or backwards no go at all just idling normally. thisll be like the 15th time Ive gone to dealer for problems with my boat, Im starting to think Im being pushed out the door so they wont deal with me but well see. I still dont think theres anyone better out there to service my TIGE than my local TIGE dealer maybe thats why I keep going back. Im scared some other boat place will sabotage my TIGE just to sell me some other brand boat. scary huh?

Juice,
That sounds alot like an issue I had with my 06. It was related to a ground problem at one or both of the batteries.
Mine ran flawlessly this past season after FIC (dom) helped me get my dealer on the right track with it.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More
