Cracks on the bottom of hull

    Question for all of you?
I was under my boat yesterday and noticed two foot crack infront and back of each keel. I think it is just a crack in the gel coat but how concern should I??? Or is this normal? I wouldn't think so but I wanted to ask.

    Thanks
    Sam

Normally you don't see gelcoat cracks in that location. Did you hit anything with your tracking fins?

Are you the original owner of the boat? If so, did Tige have the Lifetime Hall Replacement Warranty at that time? This might be better if you talked with Andrew on this website.

I think they started the hull replacement warr in '03 or '04 unfortunately. Gel coat cracks aren't a huge issue, but being sure they are just gel coat is what I would be more concerned about. I also wonder if maybe the tracking fins were over torqued or something causing the cracking.

I am not the original owner. I have only owned it since July. To my knowledge the boat has never hit anything. I bought it from the original owner he seem like he took good care of it. I no I have not hit anything. I will have to look into that life time warranty on the hull.

          Thanks

Do you have any pics of the cracks?

I have a 2000 21i, and I have cracks on the top and the underside of the hull. I called Texas about this and they said it was more cosmetic then a problem. They said there is about 7 layers of fiberglass. I don't get any leaks from it anyway so I stopped worring about. I would like to know what dogbert thinks though. I can get some pics also if you need dogbert. I trust your judgement.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Hairline cracks in gelcoat are nothing to worry about. If it starts looking like a spider web around your tracking fin, then maybe it hit something. We'll know more with pics.

Sometimes, check that sometimes,, it happens from the trailer being too far in the water and you may miss the bunks and hit the metal trailer with your boat instead, and from beaching.

I really haven't checked around my fins. I was under there sat. and tighten up the screws, but I will look again this wkend. Still need to wax the boat yet before I'm done for the year. Shame, it is still warm here but we have NO water. I was almost worried about winterizing it w/ the water situation.

May go again this weekend if weather is good. Ya'll want to come down and join us?

Here are some pics. I hope you can see what I am talking about. These cracks run abut halfway across the bottom of the boat in both directions. I can feel the cracks but that is about it. I have tried to move the keel and they are solid. So I don't think there is an issue. But it does make you wonder if you went into to corner hard if you would have any issues. I also looked at the the in side of the bottom of the boat and don't see anything out of the norm there.
                          Thanks again for the help.

Big crack but not a problem. I would see about getting someone to repair it if it continues to bother you.

This wkend? Today is Thursday. I might be able to call Steve, maybe we could stay down there for the wkend? Not sure what the wife's got going on. I really didn't have much going on that I couldn't change.
