    Rerouting Raw Water Intake Line

I am looking to reroute my raw water intake line on my boat. I want to reroute it so that I have more room to install a new strainer that will help in keeping the water line clean from getting clog and making the engine overheat.

I have a 2004 22I and the water line currenlty runs underneath the motor over to the transmission cooler. I am looking to run a new line from the inlet over the rear of the motor then back down to the transmission cooler. This will allow me to get to the strainer while on the water and clean it with out having to take the boat out of the water if it becomes clogged.

I was wondering if anyone has done anything like this yet?

I have not rerouted that line like you suggested, but see one possible concern. With the current arrangement the line is low until it reaches the pump. There is little if any lift required by the pump. By taking the line over the engine, the pump will have to have greater lift capabilities.
Maybe it will work, if someone who knows better doesn't respond, be careful and be sure it is drawing the water up.
