Unknown Beeping

Every so often, my Tige will start beeping at me, and will not stop until I turn it off/on. Its not the depth warning, as I've already gone through that one. This one is 10 seconds between beeps and starts while the boat is just cruising along - maybe pulling a skier. All the guages look good (My dealer thought it may be hot, but its not) It doesn't happen all the time. -Once or twice a day, -Some days not at all. I can't figure a pattern and its driving me nuts!

My dealer is clueless and wants me to bring it in of course.

Does anyone have a manual (for the guages maybe) that explains what *can* cause a beeping? And what does a single beep 10 seconds apart mean?

What kind of Tige do you have and what type of Faria guage (if any) do you have?

My Tige beeped just like that and it was my perfect pass. Hope this helps.

Darin, we had a boat this week that had a beep every 10 seconds while underway. We found out it was a bad connection on the knocksensor. This was on a Marine Power engine. If you have a Merc then it is a soft alarm that should show up while scanning the ecm with a scan tool (computer).

Thanks for the help. (Sorry I've not gotten back sooner. I've been out of town, and I'm new to this forum (and forums in general) but it looks to be very beneficial and fun.)

I do have the Perfect Pass (What a COOL idea! With that an a mirror, I now get to enjoy the skiier as much as everyone else in the boat!)

I also have a Merc PCM (or something) high perfomance engine.

I'm familiar with the beep the Perfect Pass does when it takes over, but that is not a reoccuring precisely timed beeping, right?

It sounds like it's probably the sensor on the engine gone bad. Looks like I will need to drag it up to the dealers again. He will keep it for a week, and I want to go out on the lake!

That brings up another question. How can I find other authorized repair shops that may be closer. If I go fill out the form on line, requestion dealers near by, It insists on sending my name & number to all of them. I don't particularly want my dealer to know I'm looking for another one, nor do I want to get put on several mailing lists.

Here is a link for Mercury Marine. This will allow you to search for the closest dealer that will be an authorized dealer or service facility that can service your motor. AS for the service on the Tige boat itself you will have to continue to go to a authorized Tige facility

Today we were out on Cedar Creek with 15-20 mph winds. Our boat got hammered after a 30 minute drive across the lake. As we were going back the beeping sound came on that is similar to the one when you start the boat. It would come on every few seconds to minutes. Wasn't sure what it was from. The slamming on the waves or just something else. Anyone have the same thing happen or has an answer to what went wrong? Thanks...

David, if you have an alarm on your depth gage, it could be going off when you are in really rough water slamming into waves and then getting air under the sender. On my previous Tige it happened sometimes at Powell under those circumstanses.

I was wonderin gif you have figured out what the unknown beeping was on your boat.

I just had a boat in here that had a bad commander speedo. it would scroll through the setting on its own about every 10 seconds causing a beep.
if you have changed the seawater pump impeller recently then there could be a problem there. merc had a problem with their replacement impellers. they were too short not allowing the proper water psi at slower speeds. this will cause a soft alarm (intermittent beep).

I'm finally back on line...

I havn't taken it in to the dealer yet. I hope to get it in next week, and should know after that. (I'm still afraid they are going to say "Hmm. Looks fine to me....")

Well the dealer found the problem for me. It was indeed the knock sensor. - But it wasn't bad itself, the wire to it had come loose. Too Simple...
