Engine running hot

Took the boat out for the first time this year and noticed after 10 minutes it was running hotter than normal. It was right under the little white line before red. It never overheated though. At idol it would go back down to 175. One side of the engine on the manifold was cold like they are supposed to be and the other was hot. Water was flowing through the exhaust but it was much hotter than the other side. If something had been sucked up I would think that both sides would be hot and over heated. Any thoughts or comments would be great. Has anyone had this problem before?

I has a similiar problem with my motor overheating. I found that the transmission cooler in the raw water line was clogged. This was causing th engine to over heat. After back washing the intake system and cleaning it out I finally decided to install a strainer system to help prevent this problem again.

So this first thing I would check is to make sure that the water intake system is not clogged.

It is only the passenger side manifold that is getting hot. How would I back wash the system? And if the intake system was clogged wouldn't both manifolds be getting hot? Thanks

I would suspect that both sides would be getting hot, but it would not hurt to back wash the system.

For my boat 2004 22I, I removed both hoses at the transmission cooler and flushed the cooler. I also made sure to flush both lines from the water inlet to the cooler and also the line that goes from the cooler to the pump.

How does your impeller look? Maybe there is a problem with one of the hoses going to the manifold. I would start with the easiest fixes first. In my 2004 I also have a water manifold that splits the out going water for each exhaust manifold.

I would first start by checking all of your water hoses before getting into the expensive stuff.
