      Well...I better clarify...it will compress fully, but it will be difficult to do so. it isn't instant. It should be progressive until it gets to full compression.

        Allright - it does go back fully, not instantly, and it only does so (I'm reasonably sure) under pressure of the boat weight. I cannot budge the hitch myself "compressing" it. Again, it slides back out way too easy from my past experience with trailers.

          Great post. You and spharis are all over this. I printed out the whole thing.

          Good discussion on the bang/clunk - from 8 years of trailering, I know what this is supposed to feel like. Lately, it's seemed to be a little more bang/clunk then I think it should be.
