I tried removing my bow seating this weekend while running wires, and found that it s harder than I had hoped. On my model, the gunnels are drilled, and the seating supports or back supports have post that go into the holes and fender washers go on the back to secure (I changed the nuts to wingnuts). In the bow, I assumed there would only be the two nearest the helm, as there is no physical way to get your hand any further into the foward gunnel to access nuts further in. I removed those, and the seat backs were still held tight. I could not find anything else as far as I could reach. Have any of you guys with open bows on models this old removed your bow cushioning? I gave up and just contorted my body into bizarre shapes to get what I needed done. I did not remove the base screws as I could not get the seat backs to loosen. I assume there would only be the two rear nuts on the seat back, and the self tappers on the seat base.....am I off here?
