I fought the bimini..and the bimini won...

Does anyone have any pics on how to mount a bimini on a 2002 21i with the metcraft tower? I have been struggling and struggling with it. Can't tell if I'm missing something or if I have it on backwards, upside down, or it's the wrong bimini. Help greatly appreciated!

Is your tower the swoop back style metcraft that came out in 2002? Board racks on top? Have yo always had the biini top, or did you purchase one from somewhere?
Sorry for the questions, but I have been looking for a bimini for my 2002 22i with the metcraft tower.

Post some pictures if you can. That will help us determine what your setup looks like.

yeah its the swoop style with board racks on top. It came with the boat, very nice sunbrella top, just can't figure out how to get it up right. I think it is missing something, I'll try to get pics up.

You might try your local Tige dealer and see what they think.

            Eric,
            I have an 03,21i.
,it came with tower and bimini. When the cover goes up the front support telescopes out in order to get it up.
Hope this helps, waiting on results of doghouse insulation as I am planning on doing mine.

              Eric:

Did you ever get this figured out? I have a 2003 22v with the Metcraft tower. I purchased the Bimini Top from my dealer last fall.

Because I have speakers hanging from the tower, the dealer had to drill a couple of new holes a few inches lower in the tower to attach the Bimini top. The reason for this is because the current holes are way too high and puts the Bimini in the same place as the speakers when opened.

I was ok with this setup, until I found out that when the Bimini top is folded, it stores right in the output path of the speakers. I had a friend of mine tell me that this is not a good thing, because when you turn up the volume, if you have something (like a Bimini) blocking the speakers, they could be damaged. Not to mention that it messes up the sound. - Does anyone have an opinion on this? I'd like your input.

My dealer and I are working to resolved this. If you're interested, I'll let you know how it all turns out.

I'm attaching a couple of pictures to show you.

Hey guys thanks for the pics!

Well I think I figure out how to put it on correctly but I think something is missing. It goes on ok but the rear portion (the back part just beyond the rear tower strut) it has no support to hold it up, there are sinch down straps that attach down low but no upward support and the slightest tug and it flops straight down. check out the pic...

I think there shoiuld be a strap that loops through those holes in the bimini something like this...

Just let some out on the rear straps so they are not so tight. The rear should have a little bit of duck tail to it.

                              Eric:

The Bimini top I have is nothing like the one that Lee is showing in his pictures. The top in your pictures seems to be more like the type Lee has.

In all honestly, I kinda like yours better, but after $500+ I guess I have to stick with what I have.

Of course, now that I'm looking for a picture of that top fully extended I can't find one.

I should get my boat back from the dealer this week. I'll take a picture with the top extended and post it. You can then tell me if this is what you have or if it's something else.

                              Is the tower the same?
