I just found this the other day laying around my engine compartment. Is it a drain for the oil for easier access then the normal drain plug?

Hey. I found that on Saturday working on the ballast system. I was going to post the same question but cannot find my camera.

I'm pretty sure it is for the oil changes but I didn't feel like getting underneath to see where the end of the hose was going.

It is an oil drain hose. You might can run it out the back to a bucket or you can hook a suction pump to it and suck all of your oil out.

So you guys (Evil & XP) don't change your own oil? That little hose is the coolest thing since ice cream. That is if you've ever had to change the oil in a boat without it.

Question for lee- Is there a remote oil filter on the V's?

Just got the boat in September and let the dealer do the oil change on the annual maintenance. Now that I know it is there I will be doing it myself next time.

Changing your own oil is a breeze with a pump. Did mine last weekend. Took about 30 minutes total, including the filter. Heres a link to a good pump.

5.7 engine no but the 6.0 engine has a dual remote filter.

Sounds like it and I have had to use other means to change the oil on my other boats.

However, I'm with those guys...I have my dealer change the oil as part of an annual service. They check all the fluids and make sure my boat is running in tip-top shape. It's like insurance against surprises.
