    22Ve Tower Mount

Has anyone with a 22Ve had any problems with the plastic pad at the base of the tower mounts shifting? See attached photo.

I wonder if it is loose? I have not seen mine shift at all.

I've owned a Tige since '99, but this is my first with a tower.

Both front tower mount plastic pads have shifted as well. The front mounts (and of course the pads therefore) have been noticeably (very) loose, and have been tighted multiple times during last summer, some by me, some by the dealer.

The back tower mount does not feel loose, even though the pad has shifted.

Is tighening the tower mounts all the time just regular maintenance with a tower?

Looks like the Tige E tower? If so, the pads may be the wrong ones like my 06. Mine have not moved around but I re-torqued the bolts after the first trip out boarding. They were under-torqued, the tower rattled and moved.

Make sure that the nuts are Lock Nuts. Once they are tight, they should not back off.

The biggest prob w/the pads is that they were used as the templet to drill the holes for the bolts and speaker wires. Well, the holes in the pad do not match the holes tower, so when the tower was bolted down, it pinched through the speaker wires causing the amp to go into protect mode.

Correct, E Tower. The fronts do not have lock nuts for sure. Will replace, and see if fronts remain tight. Don't know about the backs, but again, do not seem loose.

What are the correct pads if those are wrong?

The backs do not have nuts on them as the hull has a plate in it for the tower to bolt to.

Lee - I'm confused. Two issues here:

                    1. Front tower mounts needed to be tightend 4 times last year. Twice there was a 1/4" of play before I noticed. I and the service dealer simply tightened the nuts - yes, nuts! - to the thru bolt. Yes - there was a loose metal plate present that made contact to the underneath fiberglass. The suggestion was to replace the non-locking nut with a locking nut. (See attached figure, plastic pad not shown in picture)

                    2. Original issue: Back tower mounts: seem to very tight - except (see original picture) - the pad is shifting, I cannot move the pad. Does this mean I have to loosen up the back tower mount, move the pad back, and retighten?

The fronts do have a backing plate and a nut on them, the back only has a threaded plate in the hull that the bolt goes into.

The front should have had a locking nut on it. Yes for the rear, loosen, adjust pad then tighten rear bolt.

You need locking nuts or it is going to continue to back off.

Gotit. Thanks. Going for the lock nuts next to try that out.

Lee, spharis - Good for now on front mount. Back to the rear mount. Still thinking . . .

So I will go ahead, loosen, adjust, tighten. I will monitor and report back, but still wondering if this will be the first and last time I will need to do this, or if there might be a permanent solution someone could dream up if required . . .
