I just got around to reading this thread.

I agree the off-topic rambling is really starting to be irritating. Now we have a ballast install thread gone to irritating overposting thread. Please, guys, try and make questions that somehow directly relate to the thread. Zad and Wannabe are so far off topic that it makes it hard to access the useful portion of the thread in a short amount of time. Now I am guilty of doing what I am getting irritated over. I, like Dom, try to post only when I have something legitimate to ask or add.

Now for my addition to the ballast install thread: Jim asked on the third post or so of this thread which side the manifold was on. It does not matter because the intake is on the transom of the boat. Some have speculated that if you put the intake on the bottom of the boat right in front of the paddlewheel for the perfect pass, the turbulence may make the perfect pass function poorly.

Thanks Lee for posting the pics.
    Be excellent to one another.

Did you relocate the bilge pump? Your picture on page 3 in this thread shows the bilge pump outside of its base.
        Let it be!!!

Yes, removed the pump and base, installed the thru hull and then mounted the pump. It is easier to do that than to drill into the pump and have to replace it.

lee How did you do the wiring with 8 pumps and 4 switches?

The switches are two way switches, so that one switch has two functions. On mine, I wired the UP to be the fill pump, and DOWN to be the dishcarge. I guess it also stops me from filling and emptying at the same time.

If you look at the pictures the switches are routed to the four corners. Each switch controls a fill pump and an empty pump.

Has anyone re-routed their freshwater intake line to better accomodate these manifolds? My 03 22V intake hose does a wierd S bend over the tranny and comes in. Looks like everyone elses is a straight shot on the same side. Can someone post a pic of their intake hose begining and end point?

Questions for Tall, Lee, XPJim or anyone else who cares to offer .02 I am going to tackle a ballast install. I am going to get a custom surf sack with another 550# in the rear, a bow sac and a 550# in the walkway and under my bow filler. I am looking at tsunami 1250's pumps. I think I am going with scoop and gate valve as I want to fill while underway. I think Carline switches similar to Juniors modifications. The biggest question is how many man hours do you think are involved for someone who is fairly capable? Also any other helps or hints? I will probably be tackling this beasty project in two weeks and will have a week to complete, just wondering how many late nights to plan on. I will try to do a photo documentary as I go and add to the end of Talls install thread, I know I can't do his justice, but a different perspective maybe.
My dad always said "Stupid Hurts". He's yet to be proven wrong, but for some reason I keep trying.

You could do it in about 16 hours.

                          Original Wing Nut

I will post pics later but from my experience it will be very tight if you use the Tsunami's with the 2 inch manifold and a little bit of a headache with all the adapters you need to use with the fittings. The gate valve will definately be tight. I just got back from my boat and will post pictures soon. Just need to clean up the wiring and connect the hoses to the bags. I was not very capable and have about 20-25 hours only because I do not own quality tools.

                          More later.

I have other projects ahead, but this is on my list to do, so I am very interested in hearing about both of your experiences.

OK so no pics until next week. Must be losing my mind but I had no pics of the manifold hooked up. Sorry

Very informative thread guys - thanks Lee for all the instruction. CaptainK3B just had Tige Preformance Boats of AZ (Rival?) do his system-I am anxious to see how it works before I invest as we have the same boat.
                                Nice commentary Tall-I agree completely.
