Snap out carpet

Wondering if anyone has looked into this. I would really like for the main sitting compartment to be a removable snap out carpet for those really wet miserable weather days when the lake is glass. Has anyone looked into/made a removable carpet for the main area? I am curious what kind of finish is under the carpet etc. Thanks.

Being that I use my boat 90% in the salt water, I too would love snap-out carpet with a nice finished floor underneath. Unfortunately the only boats that do that are Centurions (horrible in the saltwater) and Mastercrafts (too much $$$ for me). Depending on what year of boat, the floor should be a composite with glue all over it to hold the carpet in. I think earlier the floors were marine plywood, I may be wrong though. My boat is a 2005 and I know it is composite. I just wash the carpet and then wet vac it when I am in the salt and get a lot of water in the boat. The big panel that covers the tank is also aluminum if I remember right, in my 22v. Not sure what could be done with that if I had the rest of the floor glassed...maybe just gator gripped or something.

I have an earlier model, the floor is an unfinished fiberglass with the carpet attached to it with glue.

We found out the hard way that the snap out transom rug does not float. So im not going to be looking into this anytime soon.

This is what I would like to do. I want to have a carpet cutout to go over my main carpeted area that I can remove to clean and keep the carpet clean with my kids (2 and 5). I want the backing to have the small spikes like on an office chair mat that goes on carpet. When I have the boat at home again I am going to measure out the interior and my neighbor is going to do a computer model of it and plot it out on a large printer. Once we have the template we can ship it back to the companies and they can make us one.

Tige this is a lot of work so how about you guys step up like Malibu and offer this as an option!

Can you confirm what the flooring is like under the carpet and if it is different over the fuel tank (mine is a 2005 24v but if there were different materials on different years please let us know for everyone)? I would just like to know what I am getting into before I start ripping and tearing! Thanks for all the info guys, always appreciated!

The removable center is aluminum, and the rest of the floor is the Penske Composite. I've had the center floor out several times, while jacking around with the Rival Ballast system.

I'd probably just do the carpet over the existing carpet instead of ripping up the old. I guess there's more possibility for mold by trapping the water underneath, but if you take out the liner everytime it would keep the original carpet in great shape and still be easy to clean up.

The reason I want the snap out carpet is we get a heck of a lot more rain here than you do in Vegas. Plus I want it for cleaning during the season. I think Cobalt has the nicest system I have seen for a snap out carpet.

Lucky 275, thanks for the info, that tells me what I need to know. I am going to look at the gator grip but may do my own "duraliner" in white. Lots of options, now if I am truly lucky R&R already has a pattern for the 24v

I was thinking of something similar, like light grey Line-x or a gator grip type material. I just worry about how much weight something like line-x/duraliner will add to the boat. The gator grip is probably lighter. The cobalts do have a very clean looking carpet set, so do the chris-crafts, can hardly tell it is removable. Let me know what you decide on.
