99 Tige 21V Merc 350 Serial L305997
Had a strange feeling power was progressively getting worse. Boat fell on its face while pulling a tube out of the water (after being in the river 6 hrs). Didnt die but had no power, rolled up the tube and headed for the dock. I was able to get up on plane and cruise 35mph back to the dock - its didnt get their fast but did get there. Loading on the trailer - had no power to push itself up there...had to winch.
Came home and changed rotor, plugs, wires, tested coil, changed sensor under rotor, checked fuel pressure. I have a spark to every plug - said my firing indicator pen. oh also - I checked to see if any codes were in the ECM...nada 12 -12- 12- 12...
Today, went and tested my work - seemed to be running good but didn't feel quite right- it wasn't purring. Fuel pressure gauge still on and holding a solid 42ish during testing. It never fell on its face but would not go over about 4000 rpms. I have an ACME 911 prop so thats not holding me back.
I have another new coil so I was thinking about trying it. I guess I should do a compression test tomorrow to rule that out. Anything I'm missing? Can the injectors go bad (i know they can, is it common)? I am defeated today as I had two flat tires on my way back from the test.
I'm not going to worry about it today; I have a date with vodka.
Thoughts?
