Does anyone know what this metal box is in the speedo line? (2000, 21V) The hose from the speedo pickup comes thru the transom, goes into this brass colored metal box, then goes out to the gauge. My gauge seems to be working fine, although it probably needs to be calibrated. Was just wondering what this box does.

It's a bellows that aids in producing the air pressure to spin the speedo. Water goes into the pitot tube, and compresses the air. That thing is kind of like a master cylinder.
I think it is called a Bourdon tube, or maybe thats the part in the speedo itself called that.....maybe someone else knows the name.Last edited by spharis; 11-28-2006, 05:31 AM.http://www.wakeboatworld.com

I've never had a bourdon tube open, but I think there is a rubber diaghram in there that keeps water from running all the way to the speedo head.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

I just wish I had easier access to mine. I have to remove my fuel tank to get to them......and that is not an easy chore. I want to replace my speedo hoses front to back, including the pickups, whenever I replace my speedos.
Has anyone pulled the tank on one of the pre-2000 (year) models? Off-topic question: Mine appears to have tangs on it that are fastened to the floor.....VERY fastened to the floor.http://www.wakeboatworld.com
