    12V Outlet not working

Does anyone know any possible solutions why one of my 12V outlets is not working? This past weekend I plugged in a pump that had loose wiring and it caused it to spark and now it doesnt work. Is there a fuse for this?

Matt, I will assume that you are talking about the outlet on the dash. It is fused at least on the 24v it is. I had the same problem and replaced the fuse. Its inside a small black fuse holder.

gman, yes its the one on the dash. Is it an inline fuse?

michael, yep that cheap plugin part came off the wiring. Replaced it with a better one on sunday, works much better.

yes, its an inline fuse. look under the dash. there should be wiring going to the 12v outlet. there is a black fuse holder. open it and the fuse is inside. hope this helps...

On older Tiges, there are two of them, one that controls power from the ignition switch (and it powers the dash instruments) and one that powers the accessories (including 12v outlets).

Is it still the same, Matt?

Aren't those things on a breaker? The one on my dash went out once from a ballast pump and it ended up popping the breaker. I just pushed it back in and viola, power restored.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

They are, but that's for the items attached to your switches. The switched and unswitched power sources are also protected by a glass in-line fuse. You'll usually find them connected to your ignition switch (or in close proximity).

On the 05's it is not a glass fuse (little fuse) but rather the two prong fuses used today by the auto industry.

Given that option, I'd rather have the glass fuse. A circuit breaker would be the best option.

                          Update..

Found out that it was not an line fuse afterall. There was another fuse box on the wall of the instrument panel. One blown 10 amp fuse was the culprit.

                            Matt,
Ask for a schematic and mark it up if you have to so that you have a reference for the future

That little plug caused me heck in the beginning. The plug in my glove box gets the power cut to it when you turn off the starting battery switch. But the one on the dash still works. At first I thought it was broke, before I figured out what was happening.
