    2001 TIGE 21V - rebuilding Actuator

Hi! I am rebuilding both of my actuators - they are leaking ATF. As I removed one, it blasted apart. The port side was done with a bit more care so I could see how it was put together. There is a piece of PVC pipe about 2 inches long between the head of the piston and the spring. That is not on the rebuild schematic from Bennett. Does anyone know why it was done this way? I figure TIGE built it that way for a reason but I’d like to know why.

It was there to limit stroke.

Would it matter if I placed that spacer at the bottom of the spring or if I removed it completely?

Needs to be in the same position. Otherwise the rod in the coil could fall out and bind up the actuator.
