Replacing Fuel Guage tank sender

My feul guage stopped working this summer- well it works after about 15 minutes of riding- and always seems to read low. I thought maybe the sender is shot- is there a certain kind that I should look for to replace the stock unit with? It's a 2001 21V for what it's worth.

Most of the people on this site will tell you that even if the full gage is working, it its not close to being a true reading of what is in the tank.
Many of use have changed over to using a full flow meter instead.
This will measure the gas as it goes into the full pump.
The kit will run just under $200.

If a new float assembly is close to this price, you might want to think about changing over.
I personally use both.
(A checks and balance thing)

I've been looking for a solution like this since my 22V fuel gauge SUCKS!! Where the heck did you find this, and how tough was it to install? thanks!!!
