Rust stains from rear ski locker

Boat is a 2000 21i
Rear ski locker is a one piece that flips from front to back.
When its lifted open rusty water drips from locker lid down back transom.

Where is the rust comming from? Some of the fittings from the hinges are a bit rusty but not that bad.

Is there a metal plate in there?

How do I fix this?

It's probably not rust. I have the same thing in my seat cushions when they don't dry out.

My 03,21i does the same when seats get real wet.My understanding is it comes from the wood used in the seats.It's a pain though it cleans up easy.

ahhhha, your right it probably isnt rust. It just looked like it so I assumed it was...

Come to think of it, that seat foam is sometimes orangy brown too, especially if it gets a bit older. Yup probabbly that or the wood.
