Upholstery stained - 21V

We just became owners of a 2000 21V with light gray upholstery. I think the previous owner used one of those blue tarps last winter which left stains on one of the seat cushions. The shade of blue is exactly like those tarps. Mild soapy water doesn't have any effect. Does anyone have any experience with this before I go out and start buying various chemicals to try?

How dark is it?

Just some sun exposure might clear it up, Laugh, but it works for a lot of things.

Be carefull what you try, some cleaners damage the stiching and some will take the protective coating off the vinyl.

I would try Fantastic, then Mr. Clean Magic erasers (although I don't think they will work) Then move up to stronger stuff as needed.

Good luck, something tells me that is going to be a bear to get out.

I like the yacht brite brand serious marine cleaner, my friends who all like jello shots tend to leave quite a few nice red and purple stains and that seems to get them out pretty good.

I use babes seat soap, but not sure if it will work on a dark old stain.

I have a bluish stain that sounds like what you described but its not from a tarp. The second time it appeared I realized it was from the bottom of a new dark-bottomed hyperlite a guest rider leaned up against the seat. There was some kind of residue or pigment on the bottom of his new board even after it was used a few times that transferred to the vinyl. I worked it with soap and magic eraser which got most but not all of it. It has mostly faded out since then. Watch out for new boards on your cushions!
