How did you hook up a garden hose to your fresh water inlet?

So pretty much as it sounds. I am tired of wedging a toilet plunger under my boat and want to plumb in a direct interface for a garden hose into my 2013 Z1. This will help with winterizing, summerizing, impeller swaps, and any other kind of run-ups.

This hose here, which I believe is a 1.5" is the ideal spot. One end goes down to the water and the other goes to the V-drive.

I want to hook up a garden hose here, but I'm not sure what parts to look for exactly. I kinda want something like this, but preferably with a valve.

Show me what you've come up with.

Do it the correct way and put a sea strainer in it. That way you can clean it out if you hit a weedy area. Here is the Indmar one.

I've modified it since so it doesn't have the 90 at the hose end or the shut off but it's what I use. A lot easier than a fake a lake on the bottom of the boat. Clear braided side goes over the raw water inlet. Just remove the OEM hose and stick this on and use the same hose clamps. Mine was made with spare ballast hose.

May I suggest? Price is right IMO.

Those are great until they crack and you don’t have a shutoff valve. Most of the Tige’ I’ve seen don’t come with a brass shutoff for emergencies. That’s why I built this into mine.

Thanks for all the feedback. Great ideas and conversation here.

Although I see the value in a strainer that's more than I wanted. I want something simple and for a single purpose.

Lee - I used a radiator hose last year and although it worked for antifreeze it wasn't ideal for a hose.

I really want something that's permanently installed in the line so I just need to flip open the hatch and clip in the hose... No fuss.

However as I think about this a pressurized 1/2" hose may work for fresh water but might be too small for a non pressurized gravity fed antifreeze insert. Maybe one size won't fit all here.

A trip to Princess Auto is in order.

^I have a larger braided hose as seen on the one side that I use for my winterizing. The hose just bends right in to the 5 gallon bucket I'm using and I refill the bucket as it goes down.

I understand you are looking for a more permanent connection but it's really easy just to remove the stock hose and stick this on.

Johnnie, I whipped up a pretty cool set up for a guy that would probably serve your needs. Used a T like you posted just before the vdrive on hose you posted. Then I bought some if the quick release plastic fittings for showers. Thru mounted it at transom as he was more function over form and didn't mind it. Also put an inline valve on it as a check valve on the suction side wasn't going to be the ticket. Just some ideas....

This gives you the thru hull connection. Just uncap and hook up hose - done and done. We have this without the thru hull the connection is on top of the engine. I just open hatch put hose adapter on hose and connect - easy as it gets. We need like this because we run in brackish water sometimes so do a flush every time.

When I connect the city water inlet hose or turn on my water pump this happens... pumped all the water out of my fresh tank. Man, I just want a damn shower
