    Chirping Noise 2005 Tige 22v

    Hello All-
Thanks for all the helpful information you have provided on this site. I just purchased a 2005 Tige 22V Riders Edition. The boat is a little rough but it was all i could afford. I am concerned about a continuous very light chirping coming from under the dash anytime the ignition is on (running or not). It chirps continuous about 2 times per second. Any idea what this is? This is my first Tige and I am trying to learn everything about this boat. Thank you.

First welcome!!....I would start with checking batteries. Check each battery independent of other and see if it goes away. I am assuming the boat has 2 batteries with an isolator switch.

Go to the Faria gauge website and see if the depth gauge has an adjustable depth alarm. Could be its set wrong and indicating too shallow.

Jim - both batteries that came with the boat were weak. I just replaced with a new 1000 CCA battery and cleaned battery connections. I'm only using one now and have it connected to the leads for "battery #1" on the selector switch. I have found several connections that have some corrosion. Are you thinking my current may be low due to poor connection somewhere?

Chpthril - I have looked for a depth gage and cant find one. I have flipped through the modes on my tach and all it gives me is air temp, water temp, and engine hours. I do have a transducer on the back of my boat. I will look for the model on my tachs. Only the right tach works.

          Thank you.

My depth alarm is in the speedo I believe. I can cycle through different functions just like the tach if yours is like mine. Could be a gauge going out. Check faria gauges troubleshooting to be sure. The reason I said batteries is I had a similar issue when we bought our boat and it turned out that was the issue. You could check voltage at batteries and gauges to see if there is a difference.

Ohh....i did not realize the depth readout would be in the speedo. My speedo does not work and the digital readout at the bottom is scrambled. I bet this is causing the alarm. I will check it out. Thank you!

I have the 2005 22i and also had some random chirping while driving. Turned out to be a ground wire that was attached to the tach via a screw that was loose. If you take a flashlight under the helm, look for the screws on the back of the gauges and check them all for tightness. Here is an example of the back but not your exact gauge.

Also, check the actual chirping device for connections:

I checked for loose wires and all were tight. I unplugged the speedo and the chirping stopped. I plan to pull out the speedo and clean all connections to see if this will resolve the issue. If not guess I will try to find a new/used speedo gauge.
