    removal of running gear

Looking to remove some running gear underneath. In particular the drive shaft holder housing(dont know name) assembly. What would I all need to remove to do this. Would i have to remove the prop & drive shaft to be able to then remove the carrier/holder housing.

If so, what is the procedure & tools required to remove these items. Is there a service manual I can purchase which would walk me through steps of service items like this?

    Thanks, Jeff

It's called the strut. I'm not sure about the tools required.

To remove the strut you will need a srewdriver on the outside and a wrench on the inside. You will need to remove the prop to be able to slide the strut off of the shaft.

Thanks, took a look at the mounting of the "strut" on the inside. What is advised when removing and reinstaling? Is silicone advised to be applied around entire strut base and studs when re installing?

        Cheers, Jeff

Yes, use some sealant when installing the new strut. Be sure to have a roll of paper towels to remove the extra ooze.
