    Question for the Mods

Are you guys hearing of any problems with the 350, 315 tow sports package motor and the computer related issues? I have an 03, and apprently myself and others are having problems. Just wondering since there is no longer a tige dealer anywhere near me, on what I should do. My dealer will take months to work on my boat since he no longer deals with tiges.

    Thanks.

Basically I thought it was bad gas. I'd give the boat some power, and then it would just die out of idle. So I replaced the fuel water seperator, the fuel filter(twice) and have run heat and stp treatment. Well it would run fine after I replaced any of those things.

I also replaced the thermostat, it was broken, but now it opens fine.

Well now it's back to giving me problems sometimes, and othertimes not. The one thing I have noticed now is that if I turn the boat off, wait a few minutes and turn it back on it runs GREAT! So, that said I started to try the ECU. If I turn the boat off, and then unplug the ECU it runs great too. Well that said I believe it's the ECU.

Another gentlemen had the EXACT same problems, but he left his boat in a shop for a month. Replaced everything I did, and then they called mercruiser and it turns out that the 03 model year has a problem determining the problem with their computer.

That being said is why I think it's a ECU problem. Plus whenever I unplug the computer, or turn the boat off it runs great the rest of the day. Sometimes it runs great all day from the get go. It's getting worse and worse as the summer wears on though. I don't feel like leaving it in the dealership, outside just under a boat cover for 3 weeks, or more, esp. since I'm moving, but unless someone else has a better idea, I have to since it's still under warranty.

        Thanks all

another forum member told me his story here

The problem with our year boat is that the computer the dealers have can't diagnose the exact problem, but if we had an 04' they would be able to see it right away. My dealer had my boat for the entire month of july (4th to Aug. 4th). He has been a mercuizer mechanic for 25yrs, and had never seen anything like this. He first thought it was a bad sensor or plugged fuel filters w/debris in the tank... not the case. He changed and doubled the inline and engine fuel filters, replaced the thermostat, took out all 8 fuel injectors, put them back in and ran a flow/drop test on them and was still getting mixed signals for the computer. If your boat gives two beeps and dies, this is a indication that the engine thinks it's in nuetral when it is not. The ECM has been an issue with this engine 350 MAG MPI Tow Ed. 315hp, so if your boat has issues like these I would definitely take it in and if your dealer wants, have him contact my mechanic John at Skipper Bud's Madison,WI 608-246-2628 and John will tell him about that nightmare.

If you need anything else, let me know. I think we should post this so others can read it as well. I would have given anything not to have my f'ing boat in the shop for a month...
