well..im looking at purchasing a used 2006 20v..it only has 20 hours on it..anyways..i live on the ocean...and it would have to be in the saltwater..all day..and all night..on a dock...i dont think i can get a lift for my dock either...but i was wondering..can i do this..will it still run after 3 days in hte water?....thanks!

saltwater corrossion on all the parts in the water....will this happen or not..its ognna be sittin in saltwater allll summer

we have sold boats that get used in salt water. one i know for a fact sits in the water 24/7 he has had it for 6-8 months and has had no prolblems with any of the running gear.granted it is a harsh enviroment for the boat anyboat for that matter but they hold up well. you could look into adding some zincs if you wanted it would not hurt. and always flush the motor after every use. also spray hardware with a corrosion fighter. also i suggest setting the taps to wakeboard mode when you shut it off this will pull the ram in so no barnicles will grow on the shaft and then end up cutting a seal in the ram. im not sure if yours will default back to slalom ill have to check but if it does it can be wired not to default.hope this helps let me know if you have any more ? . kko

great info!...anyways...how would i flush the engine out after use..is there a connection for a hose on the engine..cause i wont be able to get under the boat to put on a "fake-a-lake" thing..and what about zincs..what is that?...thanks dude!

I am one of those customers that KKO mentioned using their Tige in saltwater almost exclusively. Have a Perko Flush Pro installed and also make sure there is a strainer installed. An alternative to a lift is a Jet Dock. Some friends of my parents have one for their Nautique and they love it. They are not allowed to have a lift where they live so this was the solution they found. Also make sure the boat has the stainless gas struts and hinges and whatnot. The zincs KKO was speaking of are scrificial anodes. They dissolve easier than the other metals so they essentially take the attack away from the expensive metals. There is a current alway running through the boat and to the water which is what dissolves the metal. Here is a good link to explain it all. you will most likely have to add a flush unit. you can have a factory one but its not that common.perko is what we use they go inline and you hook a garden hose to it. it has a spring loaded valve that makes the water flow only toward engine (make sure u install it the right way) you can get them from just about any marine parts house. check with your dealer. and i would also recomend the sea strainer its a must have IMO. no boat leaves our shop without one.

well the thing is..i odnt have a dealer...im buying it used..it has 20 hours..its a 2006...so i guess il just take it to a local boat shop..there arent any wakeboard shops around ehre..so yeah

Both the Flush Pro and the Sea Strainer are quite easy to install. They both just go inline with the water supply from the pick-up. The strainer comes with a bracket that you would have to mount on the seat back above the transmission and the flush pro just goes between the water intake and the sea strainer, I could take a picture of my set-up if/when you want to install these items yourself. They are not very difficult and worst case you would have to buy a new length of hose to supply water from the pick-up.

By the way, what part of the country will this boat be sitting. I am down in Florida and our water grows stuff on boats in about a week. My parents are in Maryland and they only get about a dozen barnacle a month on a 42' catamaran.

mtnsmith does the flush pro work for winterizing,does the impeler in the water pump have enough suction to overcome the spring if you put a hose in a big bucket of antifreeze and run the engine to circulate it through.

I am not sure about the impeller pulling coolant through, I live in southern Florida so winterizing is not an issue, plus we go out every weekend year round. I will ask my dealer to respond to you, he has put these in all sorts of boats.
