I have heard mixed opinions about the closed cooling system on salt use boats. Mine is not and I prefer it as heat exchangers for the closed loop are just one more very expensive thing to have to replace. My thought is as long as you are flushing the engine very thoroughly after you use it then closed loop is not needed. I don't think installing is very difficult. I'll still get my dealer to let you know about the install though.

As far as installation, my dealer must not be reading this thread, or he is busy from the dealer's meeting in Texas last week still. Feel free to give him a call at 1-888-517-3178. His name is Dom and just tell him Ryan told you to call. He is extremely knowledgable on all inboards as he is the only local inboard service in the area, so if you have any questions on any other inboards he is a good resource.

the flush kit and strainer are very easy to install. you just cut into hose and install facing the right direction an tighten clamps. strainer samething it has a bracket that holds it you can see it in the pics mtn posted just make sure the arrow faces direction of flow. the flush kit comes with an adapter you install so you can suck antifreeze out of a bucket to winterize. never actually done this. not real common here in fla. you might have to get an extra piece of hose so you can get the sea strainer up a little bit so it is eaiser to service. not to high or it will not have enough suction to prime. it will take approx. 2 hrs give or take but its not real hard. let me kow if you have any further questions or you can give us a call at the number mtn gave you.

The flush pro does work for drawing out of a bucket since the hose connection is above the spring and only needs modest suction to draw from the hose. Perko talks about this in the installation instructions. We put a flush pro on our DD Tige a year ago and it works great. I would like to have a sea strainer but would have to do a major re-routing of the hoses to do it. I also wonder if the flush pro itself might restrict debris or at least allow you to see what is going through it since its clear plastic. It seems like a rube goldberg device but Perko has a good reputation and so far ours works just great. when flushing, the hose supplys pressure directly to the raw water pump so no dry pumping at all.
