I have a 2000 2300V with the 330 hp Black Scorpion engine. I just bought the boat and the engine only has 104 hours on it. I took it out for a test drive and the temperature gauge indicated that it was operating normally, just a little below 175. However, I felt the two manifolds and the starboard side was considerably hotter. I thought it might be an impeller issue, so I replaced the impeller (another story) and the same thing happened. Has anyone noticed this on their boat and is this normal for one side to run hotter?

Engine hotter on starboard side

Hopefully, everything is OK. Do you know what side the temperature sensor is on? The engine heat gauge has never gone over 175.
Thanks!

Is it just mildly warmer? As long as you have water flowing through both of them and you can keep your hand on the warmer one without burning it, you're probably just fine.
I think the temp sensor on a V (motor sits backwards) would be on the port side. Is there a little unit the is mounted to the block drain plug that has the actuall little blue plug mounted to the bottom side of it?You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Our 2000 21V MAG MPI with 45 hours on her is doing the same thing. Runs fine with gauge showing a little under 175 deg. On ours the port side is warm and the starboard side (of boat - left side of engine) is cold to the touch. You can leave your hand on it and it's just warm. Maybe this is normal. Anyone else checked their manifold temps? We just got the boat and I'm going to change the impeller anyway because I think it's 6 years old.
